Flakes are usually thermally treated therefore you will not spend a lot of time for preparation. Pour water, milk or yoghurt over them and let them rest for a few minutes. Add dried or fresh fruits and a teaspoon of honey if desired; they go especially well with raisins, dried apple slices and apricots. You can also prepare them as a salty dish combining them with vegetables.
It is healthier to let the flakes soak for a longer time, especially the raw flakes that have not been thermally treated. Pour water over the flakes and cover them. Let them sit over night to ferment.
